Something to Think About: Love

In her latest installment, Misti talks about a subject we all know well enough to know we really have no idea.

The course of true love never did run smooth.
- William Shakespeare

And it never will...

There will be ups and downs, ins and outs, tug of wars, compromises, laughter, tears, heartache, and happiness in the light of love.

No one said it would be easy, as much as we long for it to be. With all the fairytales and their fanfare storybook endings, it is hard to believe the end result is seldom ever the "...and they lived happily ever after." Of course, it could be in a perfect world. And why shouldn't it?

Welcome to the real world.

Over time you realize that love is not based on a soap opera. It is not the perfect couple you see hand-in-hand walking down the street. (Behind closed doors, they have their problems, too.) It is not fleeting. It is everything—the good, the bad, the home base we find solace in and thrive off of, the "why" moments we all experience, the starting and ending points of our lives, our daily routines intertwined with the ones we love the most. Love is the reason why we exist. Without love, what would we live for?

I have always found myself questioning the true face of Love, always wondering if the current relationship has really been the right relationship. I wouldn’t be sure if "this" was the way it was really supposed to be. Or, was the grass really greener on the other side?

Oh, Romeo and Juliet who loved so perfectly, losing to death due to…lack of communication! From time to time, I wonder how their romance would have played out had they both survived. Would the passion and affair have ended up being all that it was meant to be? All that the heart dreams of?

At the end of the day, if we are loved and love completely we have everything.
The world is an interesting place, full of ideas of what love is supposed to be like. Although it is easy to be swayed with all the images, both real and fabricated, displayed before our eyes, we must remember, as Shakespeare wrote: "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players…"

You must differentiate what is and what is not. It all comes down to what you feel inside. The energy that you put into it and the time you spend nurturing your relationship is all up to you. It's an investment.

Remember, you hold the key to happiness. We manifest what we want. Is love worth the effort to work through it? You decide.
