Beautiful clothes and beautiful people. For everything you’d expect to see at a NYC fashion show, Ginny Hilfiger’s Spring Fling Fashion Show delivered that and more on Thursday, April 30, 2009. Held at the Gunlocke Showroom on Park Avenue, it debuted the strikingly simple and elegant designs of Ginny H’s new Spring/Summer ‘09 line, featured alongside Gunlocke’s sleek, fine wood furniture designs.

“I prohibited the use of these interrogation techniques by the United States because they undermine our moral authority and do not make us safer. Enlisting our values in the protection of our people makes us stronger and more secure. A democracy as resilient as ours must reject the false choice between our security and our ideals, and that is why these methods of interrogation are already a thing of the past,” said President Barack Obama on April 16, 2009 in a White House press release. He is, of course, referring to what was dubbed as “harsher interrogation techniques” by the previous administration. While I can respect the sentiment behind this course of action, I feel that the president’s optimism is dangerously naïve. What he refers to as a “false choice” between our ideals and security is oversimplified.

VM recently attended A Caring Hand, The Billy Esposito Foundation’s 7th Annual Fundraising Gala this past Thursday, April 30, 2009 in NYC. All funds raised that evening went toward the Billy Esposito Bereavement Center. The center’s mission is to provide bereavement services for children and their families in a variety of ways, from helping them cope with grief to offering financial assistance to aid in their future education.
